Clutch Moving Company moves households and offices out of San Francisco to destinations across the country. A long-distance move with us means state-to-state or cross-country transport on a truck dedicated to your shipment alone. We have been moving families in the Bay Area since 2016 and have completed more than 3,000 moves.

What a long-distance move with us includes

We quote and plan every cross-country move as one job, from the first box to the last item off the truck. Depending on what you book, your move can include:

  • Supplying boxes, wrapping, and padding materials
  • Packing kitchens, wardrobes, electronics, and artwork
  • Padding and wrapping furniture before it is loaded
  • Loading your shipment onto a truck assigned to your move only
  • Driving directly to your destination address
  • Unloading at your new home or office
  • Updates from our office between pickup and delivery

If you would rather pack yourself and only hire us for transport, we can do that too. Our packing services can also be booked on their own.

Your shipment does not share a truck.

Many long-distance carriers consolidate several households onto one trailer and deliver them along a route. That is what turns a two-day drive into a three-week delivery window, because your items wait for everyone else’s stops.

We assign a truck to your move. We load your belongings once in San Francisco and unload them once at the other end, with nothing added in between. That is what lets us give you a delivery date you can plan around rather than a range.

How your belongings are protected in transit

Clutch Moving Company holds California license T019689.

Basic Valuation Protection is included at no extra cost when you book. It covers your shipment at $0.60 per pound. For a cross-country move, most people carrying electronics, artwork, or antiques want more than that. Extended Valuation Protection is available through Baker’s International, and you can arrange it directly at bakerintl.com or by calling 1-800-356-0099.

The movers handling your shipment are our own employees. Each one clears a background check before hire and completes a two-week training period before working a move. We do not hire day laborers. We also pay above the industry average, which keeps our turnover low and puts experienced movers on your job rather than whoever was available that week.

Moves we take out of San Francisco

We handle homes from one-bedroom apartments up to properties of 20,000 square feet, so the size of your move is rarely the limiting factor.

Long-distance moves are not residential only. We also relocate offices, startups, and corporate facilities out of the city, including high-tech equipment and modular office furniture. If you are moving a business rather than a household, our commercial moving page covers how we schedule around your operations.

Walk-ups, narrow streets, permit rules, and freight elevator bookings all affect how a San Francisco pickup runs. Our movers work these buildings every week and plan the loading day around them so your truck leaves on schedule.

Where we pick up around the Bay Area

Long-distance moves start from anywhere we serve. Beyond San Francisco, that includes Palo Alto, San Jose, Santa Clara, Sunnyvale, San Bruno, Pacifica, Alameda, San Ramon, Livermore, Campbell, Morgan Hill, Saratoga, San Rafael, and Tiburon.
