Residential Moving

Our residential movers handle studios, condos, townhouses, and multi-story family homes. California housing runs from a third-floor walk-up in San Francisco to a hillside property in Saratoga, and the plan changes with the building. We pad and wrap furniture before it leaves the room, protect floors and door frames, and reassemble anything we take apart.

Local Moving

Most of what we do is local moving inside one county or between neighboring Bay Area cities. These jobs are decided by timing and access: freeway and bridge traffic, building move-in windows, and how far the truck ends up from your door. We work out the route and the parking before move day so the hours go into carrying rather than circling the block.

Long Distance Moving

Long distance moving covers moves leaving California and moves between our California and Arizona service areas. We inventory the shipment, load it once, and keep you updated while it is in transit. The same company handles Bay Area to Tucson, or Phoenix moves at both ends.

Commercial Moving

We move offices, studios, showrooms, and labs. Commercial moving in this region usually means after-hours work, a certificate of insurance for the building, a reserved freight elevator, and a deadline to be running the next morning again. We break down workstations, label by department and desk, and set everything up to the new floor plan.

Packing Services

Packing services run from a full pack of the entire house to a partial pack of the kitchen, closets, and electronics. We supply the boxes, paper, and wrapping materials. Custom crating is available for art, mirrors, glass tops, stone, and anything that will not travel safely in a standard carton.

White Glove Delivery

White glove delivery is for high-value and fragile pieces going into a finished or staged home: art, antiques, designer furniture, and single-item deliveries out of a showroom or warehouse. We blanket-wrap items, hand-carry them in, place them where you want them, and remove the packing debris.

Senior Moving

Senior moving is a slower version of a standard move with more hands-on help. We help with sorting and downsizing, pack the household, and set up the new place so the first night goes smoothly. Families coordinating from out of state are kept in the loop throughout.

San Francisco

San Francisco takes more planning than anywhere else we work. Narrow streets, permit parking, steep blocks, Victorian walk-ups, and downtown towers with fixed loading dock hours shape how we schedule and staff a move. Moves here are usually built around the curb space and the building rules first, and the furniture second.

The Peninsula

The Peninsula runs from Daly City south to Palo Alto along the 101 and 280 corridors, and the housing changes quickly. Coastal homes in Pacifica, postwar neighborhoods in Daly City and San Bruno, waterfront condos in Foster City, and older homes with tight driveways in Burlingame and San Mateo all move differently. Palo Alto adds apartment complexes and multi-unit buildings, each with its own move-in rules.

Silicon Valley and the South Bay

The South Bay is our busiest area. San Jose, Santa Clara, Sunnyvale, Cupertino, and Milpitas have more apartment complexes and corporate housing, which means gate codes, reserved loading zones, and booked elevators. Campbell, Los Gatos, Saratoga, and Morgan Hill are more single-family, with longer driveways, hillside streets, and larger homes that take a bigger truck and a longer day.

The East Bay

Oakland covers everything from flatland bungalows to hillside homes on roads a full-size truck cannot turn around on. Alameda is an island, so access runs through the bridges, and you have to check the route against the truck before the day. Farther east, San Ramon and Livermore are largely newer subdivisions and HOA communities where move-in hours and gate access need arranging in advance.

Marin County

San Rafael and Mill Valley sit north of the Golden Gate on the 101. Mill Valley has narrow winding roads, homes reached by outdoor staircases, and driveways too steep to reverse a truck down, so we often shuttle with a smaller vehicle. Arrival timing matters as much as the load because the bridge and the 101 determine when the truck can realistically reach your door.

What Movers Deal With on a California Move

Curb Space and Parking Permits

San Francisco uses temporary no-parking signs through SFMTA to hold curb space for a moving truck. On unmetered streets, those signs have to go up at least 72 hours before the enforcement window starts; at metered spaces, at least 24 hours, and moving start times run between 7 am and 10 pm. Several other cities in our service area run their own version of the same process. Give us the address when you book so the parking is settled before the truck arrives.

Certificates of Insurance and Elevator Bookings

Apartment buildings, condo towers, and HOAs generally want a certificate of insurance naming the property before movers are allowed in, along with a reserved elevator and a booked time window. Some buildings allow moves only on weekdays, and some close the dock at 5 pm. Send us the building move-in packet when you schedule so the paperwork is filed in time.

Hillside Streets and Stair Access

Mill Valley, Los Gatos, Saratoga, Pacifica, and parts of Oakland and San Francisco have streets a full-size truck cannot turn on and driveways too steep to reverse down. Where the truck cannot reach the door, we shuttle with a smaller vehicle or carry from the nearest legal parking. Tell us about the stairs, the gate, and the walk distance when you book, because those three things move an estimate more than the number of boxes does.

How Much Do Movers in California Cost?

Local moves in California are normally priced by the hour, based on how many movers and trucks the job needs. Long-distance moves are priced by shipment size and travel distance. Two moves out of identical two-bedroom apartments in the same city can land hours apart once you factor in stairs, parking, and packing, so we build a quote around your addresses rather than an average.

Frequently Asked Questions About Moving in California

How far ahead should I book my move?

Two to four weeks is comfortable for most local moves. Summer, month-end, and the weekend before a lease turns over are the tightest dates across the Bay Area. If your date is fixed by a lease or a close of escrow, book as soon as you have it.

Do you move between California and Arizona?

Yes. We serve cities in both states and run moves in both directions, including the Bay Area to Tucson and Phoenix. It is booked as a long-distance move, priced on shipment size and mileage rather than by the hour.

Do I need a parking permit for my move?

In San Francisco, you do if you want the truck legally at the curb, and you need to post signs 72 hours ahead on an unmetered street. Elsewhere, it depends on the city and the building. A property with its own driveway or loading dock usually needs no permit.

Can you pack everything for me?

Yes. Packing can be full-house or limited to the rooms you would rather not do yourself, and we bring all the materials. Packing is normally done the day before the move so loading starts on time.

My city is not on the list. Can you still move me?

Send us both addresses, and we will confirm whether the move is in range. Moves that start or end in one of the cities above are usually workable even when the other end is outside the list.
